Buying guide · no rankings for sale

There is no single best IPTV player.
There is one that fits how you watch.

Most "best IPTV player" lists are ranked by whoever paid the most. This page is not a ranking. It explains what actually differs between players, so you can judge any app yourself, including ours. Livaro is a player: you bring your own M3U link or Xtream Codes login from your own provider.

Livaro provides no channels, movies or series, you use your own provider.
What to judge

Five things that actually decide it

Feature lists all look the same. These five are where players genuinely differ, and where you will notice the difference on the third evening rather than the first.

1. Playback that does not stutter

The single thing you will notice every evening. Ask whether the player uses hardware decoding and how it handles a weak moment in the stream: does it drop a frame and continue, or does it stall and buffer? A player cannot fix a slow line from your provider, but a good one hides the small hiccups.

2. A guide you can read from the sofa

Your provider sends an EPG; the player decides whether it is usable. Look for a day-by-day view you can move through with a remote, now-and-next on the channel list, and folders you arrange yourself instead of one endless alphabetical list.

3. Films and series, or only channels

This is the biggest split in the category. Some players are live-TV specialists and treat video-on-demand as an afterthought. Others read the film and series part of your playlist and present it with posters, genres and a resume point. Neither is wrong, but they suit different evenings.

4. What happens on your second screen

If you watch on a television and a phone, ask whether favourites and playback position travel with you, or whether each device starts from scratch. Also check the connection limit your provider allows, because that, not the player, is usually what stops a second stream.

5. What it costs over three years

Compare on total cost, not on the first month. A player billed yearly and a one-time purchase look very different after three years. Livaro is a one-time 12.99 euro per device, for life, after a free trial; other apps set their own pricing and you should check their sites for what is current.

Being straight about it

Where Livaro fits, and where it does not

Livaro is built for people who want their whole playlist, channels and films and series alike, presented like a streaming service and driven from a remote. That is a deliberate choice, and it has a cost.

It fits if you watch on Android TV or Google TV, want a library with posters next to your channels, and want the same activation to work on your phone, your Windows machine and the web player.

It does not fit yet if you watch on a Fire TV stick, because Livaro is not in the Amazon Appstore and there is no supported installation route today. Samsung Tizen, LG webOS, VIDAA and iOS are in development and not available yet either. If you need one of those now, a different player is the honest answer.

FAQ

Common questions

Does a better player give me more channels?

No. Channels, films and series come from your provider, not from the player. A player only decides how that list is played and presented. If content is missing or offline, that is a question for your provider.

Is a paid IPTV player worth it over a free one?

It depends on what the free one costs you elsewhere. Free players often carry advertising or stop receiving updates. Judge on the five points above and on total cost over a few years, not on the price today.

Can I try Livaro before paying?

Yes, there is a three-day free trial. After that live TV stays free with Livaro Basic; Premium is 12.99 euro per device for life, or 4.99 per year. You will need your own M3U link or Xtream Codes login from your provider to see anything.

Which IPTV player is best for Android TV?

On Android TV and Google TV the field is widest, so it comes down to whether you mainly watch live channels or also want films and series treated properly. Our Android TV page shows how Livaro handles both, and the two comparisons above cover the alternatives people ask about most.
